The world makes more sense
when you can take it apart.
An engine is a collection of answers to surprisingly simple questions. How do you contain a push? Turn it into a circle? Keep it going?
OpenEngineering is a free place to follow those questions. You can slow a machine down, see through its walls, and try a change for yourself. Start with a story, then follow your own curiosity.
Play with them in 3D.
Built to be shared.
The project began with a love of engineering explainers and a wish that learning could feel more like discovery. GPT-6 Astra helped turn that idea into working exhibits, original explanations, and a reusable foundation.
The models are simplified teaching tools. We publish sources, explain what is omitted, and welcome corrections. Technical accuracy and a clear explanation matter more than a complicated-looking animation.
Open means you can make something with it.
Read the source. Reuse an explanation with attribution. Improve a sentence. Build a new exhibit. All six machines share the same player so the next contributor can begin with a working example.
